Before flight.
And after.

Born and raised in Julfa beside the Aras River, Roshanak Diari carries this border landscape into her story. Rising from Aras takes its name from that place of origin and her later experience of flight. Through paragliding, she discovers the possibility of choosing a life of her own. That possibility also changes her relationships and the expectations that have shaped her life.

Rising from Aras follows a personal story of autonomy, attachment and the consequences of choosing oneself. Flight offers perspective. Life on the ground remains part of the story.
